(Liberty, MO) - American Central Transport, Inc. (ACT) announced that it will increase the pay for independent contractors who have their HAZMAT endorsement beginning in March, 2012. Contractors with HAZMAT will be paid $1.00 per loaded mile on every load they haul for ACT, including non-HAZMAT loads.
"We're excited to offer top pay to owner operators who have all their credentials," said ACT Recruiting Manager Chad Still. "Even though less than 5% of our freight is HAZMAT, we're offering premium pay for everything our contractors are hauling. Paying well has always been one of our core values. As a Top Pay Carrier, we've always preferred to keep our pay in the top 5%- to 10%," he said.
"We know that costs are going up and we want to partner with our contractors to see that they're successful and that their businesses continue to make money."
ACT states that they are announcing this increase now in order to give contractors time to start the application for a HAZMAT endorsement if they don't already have one. Still states that contractors may go on and sign with ACT now, and receive $.94 CPM while they're waiting to receive their HAZMAT. Upon receiving their HAZMAT credentials, their pay will be increased to $1.00 per loaded mile.
